About the Program

The Scholar’s Electives program offers a unique educational experience for high-achieving students who demonstrate exceptional academic potential. It is ideal for individuals interested in academic enrichment through an interdisciplinary approach to undergraduate learning, as well as those intending to pursue higher education at the post-graduate or professional level. The program provides an intellectually stimulating environment for students who wish to engage in interdisciplinary and/or intensive laboratory research. Its goal is to foster a community of scholars with diverse disciplinary and research interests, united by a broad intellectual curiosity across fields.

Those selected for this opportunity will comprise a small group (no larger than 50-75 students per year across all eligible faculties) who will, in addition to their Honours degree courses, enroll in the Scholar’s Electives module of 3.0 courses. The module includes a first-year interdisciplinary course, a number of upper-year research courses (instructed by individual faculty mentors), and a Capstone Seminar: Civic Engagement, Professional Development & Communications in fourth year.
